Random Notions and Stories of Teaching

June 14, 2006

So ... I didn't say much last week because I tried to put it out of my mind when I heard.

Last Thursday evening, on the last day of school, one of "our" kindergarteners drowned at the local state park. She was at the park with her family celebrating the last day of school.

Once again, I knew this little girl. I had subbed in her kindergarten classroom several times. Her teacher is dealing with her own family problems currently. However, I can only imagine how she must be feeling.

Such a sweet little girl. Such a short little life.

My point is this: Hug your children tonight, extra tight. It only takes a minute and they could be gone.

Rest in peace, little
